Classification and precautions of stud welding machine

Stud welding machine is a method that contacts one end of the stud welding head with the surface of the plate (or pipe fitting), energizes the arc, and applies a certain pressure to the stud welding head to complete the welding after the contact surface melts. Cylindrical head studs for arc stud welding are applicable to high-rise steel structure buildings, industrial buildings, highways, railways, bridges, iron towers, automobiles, energy sources, transportation facilities, airports, stations, power stations, pipe racks, hoisting machinery and other steel structures.

The stud welding machine is mainly composed of stud welding power supply and welding gun.

The basic principle of arc stud welding is to ignite the arc between the stud to be welded and the workpiece. When the stud and workpiece are heated to a suitable temperature, the stud is sent into the welding pool on the workpiece under the action of external force to form a welding joint. According to the different welding power sources used in the welding process, the traditional arc stud welding can be divided into two basic methods: ordinary arc stud welding and capacitor energy storage arc stud welding.

Stud welding is a method of welding metal studs or other fasteners on the workpiece. There are many ways to realize stud welding, such as arc stud welding, energy storage stud welding, resistance welding, projection welding, etc. The corresponding welders are also different, such as arc stud welding machine, energy storage stud welding machine, resistance welding machine and projection welding machine.

There are many informal names of stud welding machines in China, such as seed welding machine, planting welding machine, seed nailing machine, planting nailing machine, screw welding machine, etc., all refer to stud welding machines.

In the application of stud welding, it should be noted that stud welding, like other fusion welding, has certain restrictions on the carbon content in steel. For structural steel studs, the carbon content shall be within 0.18%, while the carbon content of base metal shall be within 0.2%.

According to different methods of stud welding, welding shall be carried out according to the weldability of the recommended stud welding material and base metal combination, otherwise, stud welding and base metal will not melt each other.

The combination of stud materials and base materials beyond the recommended range shall be tested to determine weldability and product design requirements for inspection and evaluation.
